The Jungalow

The Challenge: Finding the next emerging home brand for the masses, we were long-time fans of Justina Blakeney and her colorful brand, “The Jungalow”. She amassed a following for her aesthetic and best selling home interior book, The New Bohemians. Our approach in trying to win Justina over with a licensing agreement where she ultimately signed a DTR relationship with Target and co-branded with Opalhouse.

  • Engage with Justina and present a strong story of what her collection would look like at Target to complete with Opalhouse. A daunting challenge considering Opalhouse was Target’s private label brand and why The Jungalow would be the brand to disrupt their existing programs.

  • We curated pieces from our factories and developed mood boards reflecting what a program would look like as a well merchandised planogram with unique giftables and entertaining pieces spanning home decor to tabletop. We made an in-person presentation and began entering into a licensing agreement to collaboratively present to Target.

  • Fortunately for Justina she signed a DTR agreement with Target, unfortunately for us, we would no longer enter into a licensing arrangement. However, the experience in meeting a visionary powerhouse, and knowing Target made an investment into her brand, we only wish her continued success.
